I chose this article because i found it interesting with how the Havasupai tribe was betrayed by the Arizona State University. The thing that grabbed me was the involvement of DNA being misused to betray the Havasupai Indians and what the Havasupai Indians did to get what was rightfully theirs back (their DNA). My opinion on this is that I think that people should not be lied to and should be told the truth. In this case, the Havasupai Indians were used because their DNA was taken to supposedly "help their tribe" with their diabetes problem but instead were used for other testing like where they came from. I believe this is under power because the Arizona State University took advantage over the Indians and misused their DNA without informing them at all.
My plan for this project would be to put two different sides of both people involved. I am thinking of drawing one side with the Havasupai Indians angry because of the betrayal from the Arizona State University and the other side i am thinking of drawing the Arizona State University taking advantage over the tribe and using their DNA for other things besides diabetes testing.
What did you find frustrating if anything?
I found the location and trying to get parallel lines straight and parallel from each other. I was very frustrated with that and had to erase the lines many many times.I also found it very hard to get the shapes to the right size because sometimes it was too small or too large.
What felt natural about the process?
I found that knowing where each thing is and knowing where to put it quite easy. With the first one, i found drawing the objects into the right places and trying to match it exactly to where its exact location is easier than drawing them to be parallel to each other.
How did you feel about the outcome of your drawings?
I felt that the drawings went fine. I liked how my first one came out to be because it was pretty close to what it showed on the wall. My second drawing i wasn't too happy about because i didn't get to draw alot of the objects onto the paper but i got to put a few things and have them match perfectly.
I felt that the observations perspective was a lot easier to draw. It’s harder for me to imagine things from my own mind and imagination but with observations it felt better because I had an object in front of of me. The observation method helps me a lot because I can observe an object in many different angles and can that in my head to draw it out on a piece of paper. The obeservations way made me more comfortable because I could have something shown in front of me and observe every detail and part of it and be able to draw it onto a piece of paper instead of thinking about it and trying to imagine what the object looks like or how detailed the object is.
